Improving SDG data

Objective

Develop a platform that combines the efforts of Bahrain towards implementing the SDGs and related national policies, and follow up on the progress of the 2030 Agenda indicators.

Overview

Bahrain established an SDG platform to regularly monitor, publish and update data on the 2030 Agenda. The platform relies on continuous efforts to produce accurate, up-to-date and high-quality data. The Ministry of Sustainable Development is working on implementing the whole-of-government approach, coordinating efforts, adopting modern tools for data analysis and investing in innovation. Efforts include cooperation with United Nations organizations, including ESCWA, to raise awareness, build capacities and take guidance from internationally adopted best practices. The platform includes a set of policies that support the SDGs and national development policies, including the Open Government Data Policy, under which Bahrain has developed an open data platform that is accessible to all.

Challenges

Coordination of efforts between public sector institutions, and collection of data issued by these institutions.
