Establishing a database and website for sustainable development Goals and indicators

Objective

Capture available data on SDG indicators and make them available periodically.

Overview

The National Centre for Statistics and Information developed a database and website for the SDGs and their indicators. It formed task forces to communicate with relevant ministries and entities to provide the required data in a disaggregated and regular manner, in accordance with the methodologies specified for each indicator, and to strengthen capacities in the field of methodology development. A total of 100 SDG indicators were accounted for, representing about 41 per cent of the total.

Challenges

• Significant coordination and collaboration efforts with various ministries and other relevant stakeholders are needed due to the multiplicity of themes addressed by the SDGs.
• The need for statistical capacity-building and the allocation of financial resources for the implementation of field surveys.
